Train Your AI Before You Trust Your AI
Most people use ChatGPT like an unpaid intern. They toss it random tasks, hope for something good, and start over from scratch when it doesn’t work.
That’s fine if you are experimenting. But if you want AI to have 9x the impact on your marketing, you need to train it like a valuable employee. That means giving it context, a process, and a role on your team.
At Avenue9, we call this Context Engineering. It is part of our Human-First AI Marketing® approach and the A9^Factor framework. Context Engineering is the process of turning one great idea into a coordinated, multi-channel marketing engine that stays on-brand and keeps working long after the first post goes live.
Here’s how it works in five steps…
Step 1 – Start with a Scalable Story
Never start with a blank page. Choose a high-value content asset you already have in your authentic voice. This could be a blog, a podcast transcript, a sales deck, or a client story.
Step 2 – Reverse-Engineer the Structure
This is where I use what I call degenerative AI. I have ChatGPT break down the asset into:
- The main thesis (non-negotiable takeaway)
- Three to five supporting points
- Stories, examples, and proof
- Action steps or frameworks
Then I map each part to the nine levers of the A9^Factor so it aligns with the rest of my marketing system.
Step 3 – Build the Context Layer
Most people skip this step. Instead of asking for content immediately, I feed ChatGPT my brand voice cues, audience personas, and relevant service positioning.
The prompt is not “write me a post.” It is “write me a post that reinforces my brand promise for this audience, in this tone, and ties back to our AEO positioning.”
Step 4 – Multiply the Formats
Once the context is in place, we can spin that one asset into:
- Sales pitches
- Onboarding materials
- Social posts
- Email campaigns
- Podcast clips
- Training modules
Every version is connected, consistent, and compounding the same message.
Step 5 – Integrate and Automate
We integrate the outputs into our ongoing campaigns, SOPs, and AI tool prompts so the idea continues to work after it is published. We also store the core brand messages and voice cues from the original piece inside ChatGPT’s memory so they can be reused in future work.
The result is a coordinated wave of marketing touchpoints that fill your calendar and nurture your audience. You stop starting over every time and stop producing random content. Instead, you get measurable, scalable impact without burning out your team or burning bridges with your customers.
This is the difference between using AI in marketing and engineering a Human-First AI Marketing® system.
